Men’s team down two rubbers before start

The Men’s team also played last Sunday but could only manage to send one pair due to lack of availability, which meant they were two rubbers down before the match started.

Men’s captain, David Tomsett, partnered Steve Parry as they played away against Sussex County Tennis Club second team, on their artificial clay. In the first rubber, it took David and Steve a few games to get used to the feel of the court, as the variable bounce and slower pace made it hard for them to settle. They struggled to make inroads during the first rubber, during which Steve suffered a back injury, and despite their best efforts, went down 6-1 6-3.

In the second rubber, our pair came up against two strong servers, and although they had opportunities to take an early lead in both sets, could not quite take the opportunities and eventually lost 6-1 6-1.
