Depleted ladies second team send one pair to Crowborough

As the rain eventually cleared, the penultimate match of the season for our ladies second team, against Crowborough’s fourth team, went ahead last Sunday. Sadly, through injury we were only able to send one pairing of Rachel Wilcox and Pat Duke.

The first match was a closely fought contest with our ladies just losing out in the championship tie-break 10-7, having taken the first set 7-5 while Crowborough took the second 6-4.

The rain came in again at the start of the second match but the teams gamely carried on in good spirits. This proved to be another very close contest with the home team taking the first set 6-4, before our ladies fought back to win the second 6-3 and just lost out 10-6 in the tie break for the second time.

“It was a great effort from Rachel and Pat - on a different day it could have gone our way”, said Mel Gurnee, second team captain.
