One of our longstanding members, Gill Luis-Ravelo, and her daughter Gaby, will be taking part in the Race for Life in Brighton this Saturday - the 30th June. Gill has been a member of the tennis club since 1992, and her daughter Gaby played as a junior and regularly attends our events.
They are doing the race in aid of Cancer Research and there is an opportunity to help them with the fundraising.
Please see some words from Gill quoted below, and join me in wishing her the best of luck this coming Saturday.
As you know, our family has been particularly touched by cancer - here are just a few examples: we lost my lovely Mum to breast cancer 19 years ago, I had two run-ins myself in 2000 and 2007, and a month ago after a very courageous three year battle we lost my best friend Denise to pancreatic cancer. Many of my tennis friends have also been touched in some way by this awful disease.
Having launched the Race for Life events with Cancer Research UK in the South East for the past couple of months, Gaby and I are now launching our fundraising campaign for the Race for Life event that we have chosen to take part in this year on 30 June in Brighton.
Although treatments are improving all the time, we need to keep raising awareness and funds for this dreadful disease so that Cancer Research UK can continue to improve treatments and one day find a cure.
We'd be so very grateful for any donation you are able to make to help us reach our target you can donate here
Thanks so very much for your support.
Warmest wishes and love
Gill and Gaby
