Wallace Trophy

Despite a disappointing turnout, the 10 members who played in the Wallace Trophy yesterday enjoyed some early great matches in the brilliant sunshine until rain stopped play in the early afternoon.

Congratulations to Ros Parker who won the Wallace Trophy and to Gill Luis-Ravelo the runner-up. The doubles match ups were drawn at random for each round and when rain stopped play there were a couple rounds still to complete. Ros and Gill both lost one match each, but Ros triumphed by 17 points to 14 points as a result of number of games won. Everyone who participated agreed that mixing up the pairings and match ups for each round worked well and provided good variety. The other eight members who took part were Jo Chopping, Carol and David Tomsett, Pat Duke, Wendy Sim, Mel Gurnee, Jane Tarry and Steve Morris. The tournament was played in an excellent spirit and improvement tips were shared by all throughout the matches.
