Coaching for all ages is provided by Head Coach James Aburrow - South and South West Regional Development Coach of the year 2023, who is an LTA Level 3 Accredited+ Coach and is also a regular playing member at the club. His aim is to provide social and competitive tennis for people of all ages and abilities in a friendly and enjoyable environment. Novice players of any age are always welcome and club membership is not needed to join a coaching programme.
Adult coaching and cardio tennis runs throughout the year with courses for new and returning players running during the summer months.
The junior coaching programme caters for both performance and development players. Development players are those who are new to the game or have limited experience and play once or twice a week. Performance players are more experienced players, who are expected to represent the club in local competitions and who compete in tournaments outside of the club.
Mini Tennis is a great introduction to the sport for young children between 4 and 10 years old. It’s just like the real thing, but with smaller courts, nets and rackets and lower-bouncing balls. There are four levels of Mini Tennis; Tots, Red, Orange and Green, each with their own court size and type of ball. This tailored approach, based on age and physical maturity enables players to develop vital skills and techniques at an early age.
