50th Anniversary and Finals day

What a fantastic day we had on Sunday celebrating 50 years in our club's history. Many thanks to so many of you who got involved in participating, helping etc.

In particular Galina for organising the whole day (and the weather) for us, James and Zach Webb for the exhibition match (gave us all something to aim for!!), James and the juniors for the excellent quality of junior tennis on show, the BBQ and Food prepared by all teams, Anne Dickenson for the beautiful (and delicious) celebration cake, Anna MacBean for the brilliant display which has been in the club house over the summer and for her speech, and to Pat for his speech too. It was great to see so many faces old and new and many previous members coming back to share in this special day.

As I think many of you agree, the new surface is proving to be very popular and playing in well - although the slightly slower surface made for some longer rallies and matches (finishing up under floodlights!).

The winners collecting awards at our forthcoming awards and AGM are as follows:
Mens singles - Jason Smart
Ladies singles - Becky Putnam
Mens doubles - Sammy Davis-Berry & Pete Gardiner
Ladies doubles - Becky Putnam & Alison Winkfield
Mixed doubles - Roger Lindley & Becky Putnam
Most improved adult player - Amanda Fay
Most improved junior player - Ollie Loe.

I am unable to attach photos to this email so have posted some from the day on our facebook page for those of you who can access....
