Coaching

 

Blackwell has three full-time LTA qualified accredited tennis coaches. Derek Edwards and Stuart Gaydon have been coaching at New Blackwell since 1990 and they are delighted to now have Dan Buckle as an excellent addition to the coaching team. 

They are all available for individual private lessons, as well as running group sessions for all ages and abilities. 

Junior Group sessions run during the school term every Friday, Saturday and Monday and Adult Group sessions every Monday,  Wednesday and Thursday  all year-round.

Term-Time sessions 2026

Mondays 4.15 to 5 - Junior Beginners aged 5 and up and Junior Improvers

Mondays 5 to 6 - Junior Intermediate and Junior Advanced

Fridays 4.15 to 5 - Junior Beginners aged 5 and up and Junior Improvers

Saturdays 11.15 to 12 Junior Improvers

Saturdays 12 to 1  Junior Intermediates

 Saturdays 1 til 2 Junior Beginners - contact Stuart

Saturdays 1 to 2 Junior Advanced

As places are limited, advanced booking is essential for all our sessions.

Adults, come and give it a go!

Adult “rusties” sessions, Thursdays 9am to 10 am.

Calling all newbies and ‘rusties’!

New to tennis or just want have a try? Not played for a while and fancy taking it up again?

These fun coaching sessions for adults, open to members and non-members, are for you! Rackets can be provided. All you need is suitable footwear, and a sense of humour! If you get the bug, there are plenty of opportunities to continue playing all year round.

Come to as many or as few as you like.  Cost £6 per session, cash or BACS on the day.

THE VERY IMPORTANT BIT - PRE BOOKING IS ESSENTIAL. This is because there are a limited number of spaces available each week and in the case of bad weather etc. you can be contacted if the session needs to be cancelled. Early booking is definitely recommended.

Please note:

Juniors in years 4 and above would need to be members of New Blackwell Tennis Club, further details can be found at https://clubspark.lta.org.uk/newblackwellltc/membership . The Adult “rusties” session is open to non-members. Also, any adults joining as off-peak members who are parents of junior members have full access to the courts to play with their juniors at anytime.
