Saturday tea
Saturday Club Social Sessions - Tea Volunteer Rota – 2025
The Saturday Club Social sessions are a fabulous opportunity to meet other members for a couple of hours of enjoyable tennis.
During the warmer months, we try to gather together for a cup of tea, a biscuit or three and a chat in the clubhouse at the end of play from around 4pm. Sometimes, the bar will also be open for further refreshments!
This only happens if members volunteer to bring some biscuits and/or cake, some milk (coffee, tea and sugar are usually available for use in the clubhouse kitchen), put the kettle on, set out the cups and plates (again, available in the kitchen).
Usually the tea volunteer plays for a couple of sets/sessions then goes to the clubhouse to get things ready for 4pm.
Do not panic...this is not a judgy bake-off moment where your culinary skills will be assessed! It’s a chance for everyone to relax and chat in our lovely club surroundings.
A general guide is to cater for around 20-30 people – if the weather is amazing and all the courts are in use, then this could be around 40+ people.
Members (apart from the tea volunteer!) contribute £2 each to this on the day which you can either use to cover your costs or you can donate to the club’s charity of the year.
Washing up afterwards is a communal activity – you won’t be lumbered with it all!
If there is no organiser, there’s no tea ☹️
