Preparations for the introduction of tennis and other activities after lockdown.
Back to Tennis sub-group is preparing initiatives to allow the fullest amount of tennis activity as soon as we are given the go ahead. David Attwood, Kathy Ryan, Jim Henderson, Anna Webster and Nic Webber are the Tennis Development team, so expect innovative tennis activities throughout this year. They are preparing for social play, coaching and drills, tournaments and, of course, for members to book courts for their own play. The coaching programme is under review, the enforced halt on tennis play provides an opportunity to plan.
Nic Webber, Membership Secretary, and Paul Hutchinson, Treasurer, are planning the process for the credit/refund on membership as promised due to the COVID-19 lockdowns. The team will be in touch to explain, in due course.
Paul Frampton and the Social sub-group of Jan Belcher, Caroline Marshall and Anna Webster are itching to put in place social events to enjoy when attending with tennis activities. A selection of event ideas to look forward to is on the website under ‘What’s on’.
Paul Hutchinson is leading a newly formed Finance sub-group which includes David Attwood and Mark Belcher. They are working together to manage the club finances.
Mark Belcher and Paul Hutchinson are working on the Facilities sub-group. We are pleased that Paul Hutchinson has managed a high standard of court maintenance over the years which has increased the longevity of the playing surface. He awaits an expert report and then as part of this maintenance, a thorough moss cleaning and sanding regime will be implemented before the end of lockdown.
The committee would welcome continued help from members with the ongoing maintenance tasks when we are able to manage in a COVID 19 secure way. Remember to sweep and brush the courts every time you play.
Club Secretary Liz Attwood leads the Comms and Marketing Group with Jan Belcher, Nic Webber and Caroline Marshall. They have organised the current COVID-19 communication and will be contacting local media to highlight our activities going forward. The Website is undergoing update.
The club is seeking a Men’s Team Captain. The National league (Aegon) is planned, so it is vital that someone steps up to organise the men!
Ladies Captain Anna Webster is already anticipating the season ahead.
