Sphairistrike Tennis was founded in late 2020 by our Owner Manager, Aran. Our aim is to provide high quality coaching and tennis activity across small local tennis clubs and venues in the North West of England. We are passionate about helping people become better tennis players, and whether it is your first time stepping onto a court, or you are a seasoned pro who wants to improve your experienced skillset, Sphairistrike Tennis can help! Our company is made up of people who love tennis, and we deliver a wide range of group sessions, holiday camps and individual/ 1:1 coaching throughout the year.

Our name:

Many people ask, "what does the name mean?" Sphairistrike derives from the ancient Greek word 'Sphairistike' which was the name given to an early racket sport in the 1800's. Sphairistike translated to 'playing the ball with skill'. Major Walter Wingfield titled the sport Sphairistike, which was later titled 'Lawn Tennis' and then simply called 'Tennis'. This information forms the foundations of our company, and we are proud to have an intelligent company name which is associated with Tennis history.
