Rosemary Snook has played tennis at international and county levels. She competed at Junior Wimbledon, and in a Wimbledon qualifying tournament. Rosemary was winner of the Nestlé Schools Ladder and the Evening News Ladies’ Singles. She was ranked number nine in the country at Under 21. Rosemary has coached pupils of all ages and abilities for the last 40 years.

Steve Jarrett Director of Tennis

 
At sixteen Steve left St. Gregory’s school to start a YTS (Youth Training Scheme) which allowed him to attend the Georgeson Tennis Academy at the National Training Centre, Bisham Abbey.  He trained Monday-Thursday and competed weekends throughout Europe and the UK.
At 18 he was awarded a tennis scholarship to Vincennes University, Indiana, USA where he became an All-American.  He then transferred to University of Texas Pan American (UTPA) where he majored and graduated in Kinesiology (The study of body movement).
On return from the US, he set up SPJ Strings, a re-stringing business and began to work as a coach at three clubs/centres throughout Kent: Edenbridge (West Heath Tennis Centre), where he worked closely with Helene Jackson to help develop the centre into the biggest pool of County Development players in Kent; Park Langley, which at the time was voted best club in the UK;  and Mountains Health and Leisure, where he was director of Tennis.
In 1996 he was head hunted for the position of Head Coach at the TW Indoor Tennis Centre which at the time was run by the council.  During this year Steve was awarded the Captaincy and Coach of the Kent U18 Boys, a position he held for 12yrs during which time the team were National runners up 6 times and National Champs in 2004.
Steve won a successful tender in 2004 to take over the coaching commitments at TWSC and JTS was born.  The player base has increased due to Steve being able to recruit the staff/coaches he wanted who bought into his philosophy and attention to detail.
Since 2004 he has maintained a loyal group of adults, produced two top 10 U12 National players, 2 players who have played at Junior Wimbledon, 1 National U18 finalist, 10 National players.  and was awarded Kent Coach of the Year 2006.

Ian Chapman  Tennis Coach

Ian Chapman played tennis at Tonbridge Tennis club as a junior and after attending Leeds Metropolitan University he returned to Tonbridge to be coached by Steve. Through his guidance, Ian became a qualified Level 4 coach and started working at Tonbridge LTC and Tunbridge Wells LTC, a position he held for 18 years.  In 1999 he joined back up with Steve at the Indoor Tennis Centre as well as upgrading to CCA in 2001. He was then appointed Head Coach at Tonbridge LTC.
Ian coaches all areas, ages and abilities at JTS but is mainly focused on developing the Mini Orange and Mini Green performance players.  Ian played a major part in the development of two JTS players from the age of six to become nationally ranked in the top ten under 12’s.

Oliver (Ollie) Pearce  Tennis Coach

Ollie started playing tennis when he was 11 years old and immediately loved it. He had lessons in his early teens at his local club in Hawkhurst and went on to play and captain the Men’s team. Oliver then started assisting in the coaching sessions. At the age of 18 started working with the JTS team.
As well as working for JTS Oliver also coaches at St Ronan’s, St John’s LTC and is Head Coach at Hawkhurst Tennis Club.

Nathan Cook  Tennis Coach

Nathan Cook captained St. John’s Tennis Club men’s team at the age of 18. He was mentored by Rosemary Snook and Steve Jarrett and also gained experience coaching at La Manga Club, Spain. He teaches all ages and abilities.

Dave Clifford  Tennis Coach

Dave became interested in coaching when he started assisting the head coach at his local club at the age of 18. This coach encouraged him to take his qualifications which gave him the opportunity to leave his insurance job to follow his passion.
Once gaining some experience Dave was offered the position of part time games teacher at a Sevenoaks school.  After this he moved to Windmill Hill Tennis and Golf resort where he worked full time as a tennis coac, specialising in adults.
Dave has taught tennis local since 2001 and joined JTS in 2004 where he became adult coordinator.
He is not only a tennis coach, but a qualified personal trainer and martial arts teacher and is therefore fortunate to be able to make a living using all three of these skills.
He became a father in 2007 and hopes to pass onto his son his philosophy that in all aspects of life find something you have a passion for and enjoy it regardless of winning or losing.

Sarah Ellington  Tennis Coach

Sarah began coaching as a volunteer with JTS, assisting with the Mini Reds alongside Ollie Pearce back in 2015. Having always loved sport she realised that a change of career was needed, she she left her office job (after 17 years) to freelance which allowed her the opportunity to gain more on-court experience.  With Steve Jarrett as her trusted mentor, she felt confident to complete her Level 1 and 2 qualifications over the next two years and never looked back.
She approaches coaching with an enthusiastic and positive attitude and believes every person, regardless of age, should have the opportunity to share in the lifelong joys and fun that tennis brings.

Jamie Frost  Tennis Coach

Jamie started playing tennis at 5yrs old with JTS where he developed a deep passion for the sport. With his commitment and enthusiasm for tennis he started assisting at JTS when he was 13 years old and has been a part of the team since.
He qualified as an LTA Level 2 Coach in March 2024 which allowed him to continue advancing his skills and knowledge of tennis. He says he is now looking forward to working full time with Steve and the JTS team to inspire the next generation of tennis players.
