Introduction
Stourpaine Tennis Club was established in 1998 on the completion of two new all weather tennis courts, funded primarily by a lottery grant. The 2 macadam courts (newly re-laid in 2014) are located in the Draper Memorial Field in the picturesque village of Stourpaine, near Blandford Forum in Dorset.
Facilities
The tennis club has its own locker room, with a changing cubicle and WC. An access control system is installed on the locker door. This also proves to be a good shelter for when the British weather gives us its worst! The club also shares the clubhouse facilites with the Stourpaine Playing Fields Association and Football Club.
Club Sessions
The courts are booked at the following times for Members' Group Sessions:
- Sunday Mornings from 10am (11am in January and February) to 1pm - Open Session
- Wednesday Mornings from 10am (11am in January and February) to 12noon (1pm in January and February) - Adult Session
- Thursday Evenings from 6pm during the summer - Open Session
Come and play some tennis and meet other members. The Sunday session is run by a rota which ensures that there is always someone to play with. This provides an excellent way of meeting other members and players, so if you're thinking of joining just come along and try your first session for free.
Club Matches, Competitions & Events
Since 1998 the club has been constantly evolving and growing all the time, both socially and competitively. As well as friendly social double tennis on the various club sessions, it competes in both the local Shaftesbury Summer leagues and also the Dorset Summer & Winter leagues (see League page).
As well as social and league tennis, the club runs intra club knock-out/box tournaments, family fun days and various social events throughout the year. There are also coaching sessions available for both adults and children (see Coaching page).
