Following the departure of popular Head Coach, Mike Johnson, and his support coaches in late 2024, Swanmore Lawn Tennis Club is pleased to announce its new coaching team and set up for 2025 under the leadership of new Head Coach, Colin Murphy and his team.
Please note the new coaching schedule starts from Monday 13 January 2025.
Colin Murphy: Head Coach
Colin has over 25 years of coaching experience and is a Level 3 coach with a Diploma in Sports Psychology. He has a vast number of qualifications including the LTA Open Court Programme and disability tennis. Colin coaches players from 2 to 80 years. He has taken players from beginner to national level and has helped players gain scholarships to American universities. He believes in teaching the person and not just the game as everyone has their own individual style. Colin's passion is making tennis affordable and accessible, creating a warm, friendly and relaxed atmosphere, where players of all ages and abilities are made to feel instantly welcome. He has coached over 70 teams who have all gone on to win their respective leagues and has won awards for his innovative coaching programmes.
Aurelie Hemphill
Aurelie is a Level 2 coach specialising in developing junior and adult tennis. She coordinates the after-school clubs and is also a tournament organiser and court supervisor. Aurelie organises the day-to-day administration and helps oversee the delivery of the programme.
Linda Pink
Linda is a Level 2 coach and is our junior programme and holiday camps coordinator. She delivers the LTA Youth Start programme and Prime Video Youth Girls. Linda’s passion, enthusiasm and commitment makes her an invaluable asset to the coaching team.
Tennis & Activity Camps
During the school holidays we run tennis/multisport activity camps for ages 4+ Lots of tennis and games, all with the emphasis on fun Dates are updated on the SLTC website
Schools
We deliver tennis in schools for their Sports Week and regular after school clubs. Contact us if you would like us to get involved in your school.
LTA Initiatives
We take part in many LTA initiatives throughout the year. We are one of only 3 clubs in Hampshire and IOW taking part in the Open Court Programme, which promotes and delivers opportunities for people with disabilities to get involved in tennis. Offering older juniors pathways into LTA development courses and progression into volunteering, coaching and refereeing.
Competitions
Throughout the year we will be running internal and external junior and adult competitions, junior friendly matches and school holidays advanced coaching sessions.
