Junior County Training
Part-funded through the Isle of Man LTA and the LTA, we run regular training for junior players across the Island.
The aim of County Training is to get the best players in each age group together (every 6 weeks) to train and develop a TEAM bond. These sessions are in addition to a players weekly coaching at their home venue. We will use these sessions to assess player standards and select teams for competing in England at LTA County Cup.
For 2024 the IOMLTA has funded the Junior County Coaching Programme.
The programme will see the top players on the Island come together to train with each other optimising their development. For those who continue to progress, they will achieve county representation in identified team events against other Counties.
This opportunity is designed to support home club coaching. Players will train and meet with each other on a regular basis to complement their club/coach programme. The sessions will be high intensity, fun, group based with an overall aim to enable a team ethos and assess the best pairings for future doubles matches in county events. The programme is invitational.
The county coaches and team manager work in unison with coaches around the Island to build strong links to develop players so they are able to compete at County level.
If you feel you know or work with a developing player, please contact the Tennis Development Officer at operations@iomtennis.com
LTA Youth Programme
LTA Youth is the tennis programme designed to give you skills for life. Everyone aged 4-18 is welcome; any shape, size, ability – it doesn’t matter. We just want to see you pick up a racket.
Player Pathway
The Player Pathway is a seamless pathway for tennis champions that nurtures people, teams and leaders. Players on the pathway will start at the National Performance stage which normally covers development from 7-14 years, players are then selected to progress to the Pro Tour Stage which usually starts at age 14. The final stage is for those singles players who reach the world's top 100 and doubles players who reach the world's top 32 in the ATP/WTA rankings.
