Tennis Mindfulness

Tennis Mindfulness is a friendly and welcoming tennis programme aimed at players of all abilities. Our mission is to relieve you from your everyday worries and work commitments by getting you to enjoy some tennis whilst being in the present moment.

The benefits of mindfulness

Our minds prefer to wander rather than stay on task and in that course of wandering our minds can often become tangled with thoughts of worry and self-blame.  Mindfulness attempts to cultivate a non-judgemental awareness of arising negative thoughts and a redirection of attention away from them. Studies have found that the simple task of being present with an object of attention (e.g. the sensations of a breath), for a consistent length of time, can decrease your reactivity to negative thoughts, promote emotional control and reduce any feelings of anxiety. Tennis Mindfulness aims to promote within you  a greater sense of being present and aware, all whilst improving your ability to play the game of tennis.

Tennis Mindfulness is currently being held on Sundays at the Esher Civic Centre from 11.45 to 12.45pm.
