All Tournaments

Due to match completion problems over the last few years, and to ensure that all matches are organised and played by the due date, the Tournament and Full Management Committee have agreed to amend the Rules to be as detailed below, until advised otherwise.

MATCH RULES

  1. All entrants must be fully paid up members of the club, and remain so throughout the length
of the tournament, in full knowledge that they can complete the tournament through to the
    Final, should their success continue.
  2. Matches shall be the best of three sets, with a deciding tie-break in each set.
  3. Players shall conduct themselves in an honest and professional manner at all times.
  4. In the event of personal circumstances resulting in the match not being able to take place,
unless indisputable contact has already been made to call the match off, for an agreed re
arrangement, all players must turn up at the agreed time. Failure to do so will automatically
result in the match being awarded to the opposition, provided that they have submitted a
claim to the Tournament Committee, before the due completion date.
  5. In the event of inclement weather, unless indisputable contact has already been made to
call the match off, for an agreed re-arrangement, all players must turn up at the agreed
time. Failure to do so will automatically result in the match being awarded to the
opposition, provided that they have submitted a daim to the Tournament Committee, before
    the due completion date.
  6. Where inclement weather has interrupted the match, and, by mutual agreement it cannot be completed that day, a player(s) can daim the match ONLY in the following circumstances.      a) That they are one set up and at least three games or more ahead, in the second set      b) That it is one set all and at least three games or more ahead, in the final set.   If a) or b) has not been reached, then the match shall be continued on a mutually agreed date and time, from the same score it was when play was suspended.
  7. Where players cannot agree on a line call, the point shall be replayed.
  8. By mutual agreement, players may arrange their own match umpire, whose decision will be
    final in all disputes.
  9. At the completion of each match, the winner(s) will insert their name(s) in the next round, in
the correct place, on the clubhouse Draw Sheet together with the result of each set.
  10. If the match is not completed by the due date, it will be automatically registered as
"UNPLAYED", by the Committee, with no recourse for dispute. Neither player(s) will
therefore have any further involvement in the tournament
  11. Following the Match Draw, if a player withdraws from the tournament DURING the first
round match, their opponent will automatically go through to the next round on the basis of
a "walkover" or "retirement", no substitute player will be allowed for a re-match to take
place. The only exception to this will be if the match has not started, and a substitute
player has been agreed by the Tournament Committee.
