DONATION:
At the 2025 ADTL AGM, the Committee announced that it had made a donation of £500 to HACRO.
HACRO is a predominantly grant funded charity, helping people in Hertfordshire who have been on the wrong side of the law to turn their lives around. We believe in second chances.
"Our vision is a world in which everyone on the wrong side of the law has the chance to turn their lives around and lead a life fully contributing to society. We deliver our vision through programmes that build capability and confidence, delivered with respect and integrity. Our mission is to offer support for ex-offenders, potential offenders and their families to make positive changes in their lives and thereby reduce the number of victims of crime"
HACRO's flagship programme is TurnAround which is a personal development programme that provides support, purpose, engagement, structure and opportunity to ex-offenders in their journey back to the community.
The ADTL committee are delighted to make a donation towards this project.
Message from Matt Cannon HACRO CEO:
In late 2002 HACRO begun a pilot project with Bovingdon and Flaunden Tennis Club. The initial funding came from The Lawn Tennis Association and this covered court hire, coaching and some equipment. The donation by your organisation has really helped with staff costs for our Mentors who are required to be able to run the sessions.
We work closely with both Police and Probation who not only bring the Participants but also join in playing with and against our cohort. This promotes positivity and understanding from both sides. Once witnessed, it is impossible not to be touched by the potential life changing experience the tennis sessions at Bovingdon and the friendliness being shown by those involved.
We have run the tennis nearly every week since the inception with an average of 10 participants playing at each session. Our hard work has been recognised as we won the Lawn Tennis Association - Connecting Communities Award for Hertfordshire then the Regional award followed by being the National Runner Up.
Our Participants have also given back to Bovingdon and Flaunden Tennis Club by undertaking numerous ground works projects.

Two participants of the HACRO scheme now play in the ADTL league for Bovingdon & Flaunden Tennis Club.
Message from Ali Lyons Chair BFTC:
Bovingdon & Flaunden Tennis Club has been involved from the beginning of HACRO's relationship with tennis. It is a win-win relationship: the courts are used in off-peak times and, in return, HACRO undertakes groundworks. This wouldn't be possible without support from organisations such as the ADTL.
One participant commented: "Tennis provides structure and routine in my life. I have changed my circle of friends by joining the club and my passion for tennis."
Thank you ADTL for your support.
