CAPTAINS UPDATES
POSTPONING MATCHES
We are hoping that no more matches are postponed for reasons other than the weather now that we are in February, otherwise we are in danger of not getting all the matches played, even with the season extension- now running until Wednesday 29 April. Many teams still have 5 or more matches to play and it is highly likely that more will be rained off. If the forecast is uncertain or just looks a little dodgey, please give it a go. Rule 27 allows for various scenarios if the match doesn't finish. Any matches that don't get played for weather reasons will be void and no points awarded.
Matches that have been postponed for any other reason than weather must take least priority and if they don't get played, we will look at the reason to decide how to award points.
Please use the following protocol if you are struggling to find players:
- Use players from lower teams to play up (see Rule 22 for eligibility)
- Play one pair (see Captains Guide for the paragraph on One Pair protocol)
- Please email the Divisional Secretary for advice on any individual circumstance
THE SUMMER SEASON WILL COMMENCE ON SATURDAY 25TH APRIL 2026
CHECKING MATCH RESULTS
Please make sure that, as the losing captain (away captain in the case of a draw), you check the results entered. This is the only way to pick up on errors. We have had a few examples of results being entered incorrectly/ even incorrect players being entered. You will need to ask us to amend anything that is incorrect because the site won't allow you to change anything once it has been saved.
Please make sure that results are entered within 72 hours OR the postponed status and a note with the reason for the postponement.
CONFIRMING MATCHES WITH THE OPPOSITION
As stated in the Captains Guide:
"Contact (the opposition) captain and confirm that you agree on the time and location of the match. Agree what refreshments will be offered. Agree plans for bad weather. It should usually be the home captain who makes contact a few days/ one week before".
As the away captain, if you haven't heard, please make contact to ensure everything is ok.
Both captains should be checking the LTA site to make sure they have the correct date
