In December we shared with you the Club’s plan to resurface all of our asphalt courts with ‘artificial grass’
surfaces this Spring.
Following a thorough review of five separate supplier proposals, considering the overall quality and
professionalism of each proposal, feedback we received from other neighbouring clubs, and the cost
competitiveness of each quotation, the Committee has chosen to place the asphalt courts resurfacing project with South Wales Sports Grounds – based in Magor.
Following agreement on the final scope of work, including the selection of the market leading Tiger Turf
Advantage Pro synthetic surface for courts 3-5, and Tiger Turf Advantage for the mini court, SWSG have now
confirmed their works schedule.
To ensure the project is completed before the start of the LTA South Wales and CK summer league matches start after Easter, SWSG will commence work on Monday March 17 th and expect to finish during the week
commencing April 14th .
During that period all of the asphalt courts and the mini court area will not be available for booking and be ‘out-of-bounds’ to all non-authorised members.
The Committee have considered how best to minimise inconvenience and optimise clay court availability for
members during the period the works take place, including:
- Consulting with Carys to agree how best to minimise the impact on coaching services, including prioritising coaching for junior members and considering alternative (less busy) slots for adult coaching sessions. Carys will share details with coaching participants separately.
- Cancelling the weekly Men’s Team practice sessions.
- Making the floodlights ‘free to use’ to all members from 6pm onwards from March 17 th until the work has been completed to encourage the use of the clay courts during the evening. Details to come in a separate email.
We hope that you’re all as excited as we are at the prospects of our asphalt courts being resurfaced and we ask
for your kind cooperation, patience, and consideration during the period the work is taking place.
