Over the last 2 weeks the team from Fosse Contracts have been working flat-out, often in terrible weather, to reinstate our artificial grass courts as quickly as possible.
Conditions this week have been less than ideal for applying fresh infill sand but following an inspection today we've decided that the artificial courts are now ready for play. They'll be made available for booking from tomorrow, Saturday 13th December.
Inevitably the courts will be rather 'green' having had all of what was left of the old and contaminated infill sand removed and replaced with new sand - which will take time to settle in and even out. It's very likely too that some parts of the court will need additional infill sand applied, so Fosse Contracts have been scheduled to return in 6 weeks to address any areas where the infill is insufficient / the bounce is inconsistent.
Next week we'll be meeting with the insurance company's loss adjusters to review costs already incurred / projected costs for courts 1 and 2. We're hoping a settlement value can be agreed quickly so that we can firm up a plan for the replacement of the clay courts. We'll share that plan with you as soon as we can.
In the meantime, to help all members make maximum use of the artificial grass courts, we're making the use of floodlights free of charge and suspending use of the ball machine until further notice. The floodlight override key is on a steel lanyard located by the coin meters.
The two Penpergwm courts we've hired will also continue to be available exclusively for ATC members until the end of December and are still bookable as courts 1 and 2 on the ATC Clubspark booking system.
Thanks again for your continued patience and understanding whilst we work to complete our flood recovery plan.
