Coaching at the Deeside Tennis Academy
LTA qualified coach Graham Kay leads a full programme of group coaching for all levels and ages.
Coaching at the Deeside Tennis Academy is split into three streams: Core Coaching, Development Coaching and Performance Coaching.
The Core Coaching programme offers training for both adults and juniors. Development Coaching is for juniors in the Deeside Tennis Squad who want to play more competitive tennis, while the Performance Coaching programme is for juniors who are at district/county level and want to excel in local and national competitions.
Classes are run nearly all year round for juniors, with indoor coaching available at the Bowling Club during bad weather.
Private lessons are also available.
We offer Mini Tennis for pre-school and primary school kids, who can progress through the stages (red/orange/green) to reach yellow ball sessions in primary 7 and secondary school.
For adults, we have club teams pre-season tennis for men and ladies in March, and run lots of adult courses between April and October.
The DTA Facebook page outlines the full coaching schedule for the year.
Coaching Schedule and Times
Club teams' pre-season tennis (for both men and ladies) is offered on Sunday afternoons throughout March. From April through to Ocotber we run the following adults classes:
Wednesday Mornings: Rusty Racquets (Beginners/Improvers/Intermediate)
Thursday Evenings: Adult Coaching (Improvers/intermediate)
Sunday Afternoons: Adult Coaching (Improvers/intermediate)
Juniors Core Coaching sessions (ROGY) are run after school on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Development and Performance Coaching are run at weekends and early mornings.
See the this season's Aboyne Core Coaching timetable here.
DTA also provides great Holiday Camps for all ages and abilities. If your child has never played tennis before, our camps are a great place to start! The camps cater for players in all three streams of the Academy and are an absolute blast!
The club owns a ball machine, which is often used as a coaching aid. It may also be used outside coaching sessions by club members aged 12 and older. Howeverit is important that you are briefed on how to use it safely and follow the detailed guidance, which may be found here: Aboyne Tennis Ball Machine Policy
