Ex Albany LTC junior member and honorary club vice-president Billy Harris lifted his first ATP Challenger Tour title over the weekend at the Cassis Challenger in France.
Harris won four close matches to reach the final – winning four of five tie-breaks played – before coming from a set down to beat Estonia’s Daniil Glinka in the final 3-6, 7-5, 6-3.
It’s a breakthrough victory for the 30-year-old – not only winning his maiden Challenger title but also his first singles trophy since 2022.
The victory came off an impressive showing at the US Open this year, where he came through qualifying to reach the main draw for the first time – losing a close battle with eventual semi-finalist Felix Auger-Aliassime in the opening round.
The result moves him up 15 places in the world rankings to 136th.
