I’m sure most people at Albany last Saturday for the official re-opening of the indoor court would agree that it was a special day. His Excellency Lt. Governor Sir John Lorimer and Lady Lorimer arrived at the appointed time and were met by Club Chairman Tim Davies and Club President Bryan Sharp.
In attendance also were representatives of the Manx Lottery Trust which contributed towards the court redevelopment – Sarah Kelly (Chairman), Sarah Maltby MHK, Trevor Butler and Ian Begley.
Sir John cut the ceremonial purple ribbon held by Gianna Dang Aoen and Freddie Vorster. After a few words the Lt. Governor hit the ball over the net with the wooden racquet to big cheer as the children all ducked!
His Excellency then spoke with many around the court. Everyone then adjourned to the club lounge for an excellent buffet and a lot of social chat!
Thanks to all who helped make this a special event for the Club.
