A Line Umpire acts as an extra pair of eyes and ears for a Chair Umpire and is responsible for calling when a shot lands outside the line assigned to them, or indicating if it was in. This role requires good eyesight, fast reaction, a strong voice and the ability to concentrate for a long time.
