Safeguarding

Baslow Tennis Club acknowledges its duty of care to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and is committed to ensuring safeguarding practice reflects statutory responsibilities, government guidance and complies with best practice according to the Child Protection in Sport Unit requirements.

Our full Safeguarding Policy, which also details courses of action should they be required, can be seen here.

Our Safeguarding Policy Statement can be read here.

The welfare and interests of children are paramount in all circumstances.

The Tennis Club aims to ensure that regardless of age, gender, religion or beliefs, ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation or socio-economic background, all children:

  • Have a positive and enjoyable experience of playing tennis in a safe environment
  • Are protected from abuse whilst participating in tennis at Baslow Tennis Club. We acknowledge that some children, including disabled children and young people or those from ethnic minority communities, can be particularly vulnerable to abuse and we accept the responsibility to take reasonable and appropriate steps to ensure their welfare.

The Tennis Club has a nominated member of the committee responsible for child protection and child welfare. The current Safeguarding Officer is Alison Gaines whose contact details can be found on our Contacts page. Alison has the relevant DBS Certificate and she has also attended the LTA's safeguarding course gaining the required certificate

Coaches employed by the Tennis Club interacting with children will be appropriately trained and approved and all reasonable steps taken to prevent the employment of unsuitable individuals. Pete Ledbetter and Chris Warner are LTA accredited coaches.

Safeguarding posters can be found here and our 19-20 Venue registration is here

Members of the Club who are involved with children will be provided with appropriate learning opportunities to recognise, identify and respond to signs of abuse, neglect and other safeguarding concerns relating to children and young people. Our club coaches hold the requisite DBS checks required by statute.

Photographer Registration

Baslow Tennis Club takes the welfare of its members seriously. This is particularly so for Juniors and our commitment is detailed within our policies, which can be viewed on this website.
We do not wish to discourage the taking of photographs and accordingly should you wish to take photographs at Junior events please register your intentions. This is a very simple and quick process and can be undertaken online.
