Held at the Atherley Bowling Club.

Overview

This went incredibly well, particularly as nothing like this had been done
before.
Thanks to all of the contributors, and those who attended, all agreed we
had a great entertaining evening. Overall, an impressive gathering of over
30 people.
A record of the programme may be found here.
And some photos taken by the audience can be seen here.

Excuse the above awful alliteration.

Details on Some of the Contributions

Cesar's creative canvas

Cesar brought a canvas of a painiting he was working on.
It is an amazing piece of art. He described how it was being
put together, with lots of technical detail, including how it
was being built up with various transparency layers.
Truly impressive!

Liz's lovely landscapes

Liz brought a number of landscape and seascape paintings.
They were bright and colourful, and easy on the eyes!
I hope somebody bought some of them, as they would
truly grace any wall!

Joe's jolly jaunt

This event was Joe's brave idea, and the whole event went
exceeding well. He started off the show with an inventive
quiz, where short sequences from well-known pop records
were played, and the audience had to discover words in
those that related to terms in tennis (love, line, net, etc.).
All were totally engaged in groups in trying to figure these
out. Some amazingly good results.

Joe later on read out a poem he authored, based on BLTC,
especially written for this event. Amusing and perceptive
about things about the club.
It can be downloaded here.

Sandra's stunning ceroc (partnered by gallant Gavin)

I don't think anyone was expecting a turn quite as dynamic
and coordinated as what was witnessed. A brilliant display.
They must have spent a lot of time practising. Presume
that they'll enter a real talent show soon?!

Jason's juggling gymnastics

Jason turned up with several items of juggling equipment,
ball and clubs. Another impressive performance on the
night. The behind-the-back throws were a treat to see.
Good to see that Gavin and Lawrence joined him to do
a joint act.
Topped off with backward summersaults, amazing!

Rennie's revelation of Robbie

What were to expect from a Scotsman? Nothing less
than heart-warming renditions of Robert Burns works:
a poem and a song. Well done Rennie, we didn't know
you had it in you (your tennis of course!), but poetry?
His final wishes to the organisers: “lang may yer lum reek”!

Tim's tuneful troubadour

Tim is know as a skilled guitar enthusiast, practising at
home most mornings before breakfast. And that skill
was demonstrated when he performed quite intricate
amazing sequences on his guitar, and for one or two
numbers, being able to sing at the same time.
Well done, Tim! We'll have you back for more.

Charles's charming chanteur

Charles is a long-time fan of Bob Dylan, and he played
guitar to accompany his singing of a couple of Dylan's
most moving songs. This went down very well with the
audience, and appreciated by all!
Did somebody say "he is the next Bob Dylan"?

Steve's soulful songs

The last time Steve performed in public was decades
ago, With quite a bit of practice over the preceding
weeks, he built up enough confidence to get onto the
stage. Accompanying himself with his guitar, he firstly
sang Wild Rover (mainly) by himself, and then invited
the audience to join in singing the same song, which
it would seem, without exception, all did. Following
this, a request for more, saw him sing, along with the
audience, The House of the Rising Sun.

Mark's marvellous music (partnered by balladic Beccy)

Mark and Beccy are regular folk festival followers and
often perform publicly at such events. Their ability
playing guitar, ukelele, and singing songs such as the
well-known Are You Going To Scarborough Fair was
fully evident and enjoyed by all who attended tonight.
Must to see them at one of the festival events.
A fitting finale to the evening!!!
