Bassett Lawn Tennis Club Championship Finals, Sunday 10th September 2023
The Day
The days leading up to the finals were unbearably hot, but the forecast promised to be just a little cooler. Luckily, the day was significantly cooler, and a lightly overcast sky made the playing conditions near perfect. A little light rain at the beginning delayed proceedings somewhat. However, that did not dampen the spirit of the players, indeed many of the games played were fiercly contested, with some astonishing rallies, and equally amazing retrievals. The loyal spectators, members of the club who had come to witness the play were treated to gripping entertainment, and a really good turn out of the membership it was!
The atmosphere on the day was truly engaging, and the spectators very much "getting involved" with the action.

Facilities
The club house was fully utilised, the bar open, members' food being shared, and the BBQ in action in the background during the play.

Many thanks must be given to those on the committee who arranged the championships, and who made it happen on the day, especially Andrew Russell, Jon Amery, Lyndsey Goulston, Sandra Costigan.
And thank you to all of the contestants and supporter of the event.
Future Events
For future events, in particular with the club's centenary coming up, volunteers are invited, not only to suggest relevant events, but get involved in running such (the committee themselves is a bunch of volunteers!)
