Club Events

Maintenance Morning – Saturday 18th May, 9.00am -12noon

VOLUNTEERS WANTED – Summer is round the corner and we need to give the clubhouse and grounds a spruce up after the winter. Whether you are a professional D.I.Yer or professional Bodger, we have small jobs for everyone. It's hardly work really, meeting old friends [and making new ones], to do all the little jobs that set our club apart.

After their mornings fruitful labours, the volunteers that sign up, all sit down to a lunch and reflect on how magnificent everything looks.

If you're a seasoned 'work in' attendee, or are thinking of coming along for the first time, please contact Neville Milsted. This will be a guide to how many sides of beef and flagons of ale we need for the lunch.

40th Anniversary Celebrations – Saturday 8th June, from 2.00pm at the club

It's now 40 years since our club was founded and your Management Committee would like to invite you, your family and friends to join us to celebrate this auspicious occasion. We have organised a fun-packed afternoon of tennis, free food and a glass of fizz to toast the founder members and our great club. Live and taped music will be playing throughout the event courtesy of the talented Mike Judson, one of our members. The bar will be available throughout the day and evening, staffed by volunteers. The event has been organised to cater for all members; families and juniors are particularly welcome. Please put this date in your diary and come along to whichever part of the timetable most appeals to you.

2.00pm - 4.00pm FUN TENNIS
Come in your kit and participate in 'fun tennis', from 2 till 4pm, facilitated by our MTA coaches who are offering their services for free. This will consist of team games, for example of up to 5 a-side. It's really good fun, and unusually we will allow bar drinks on the court in plastic glasses, so it's 'booze n balls' if you wish ! We will also organise a junior fun programme on court 1 and table tennis.

4.00pm - EXHIBITION MATCH & FOOD
We have organised an 'exhibition match' involving our top players vs the coaches.
The free food will be available from this time.

5.00pm. SPEECHES
Don't worry, they will be brief !

5.10pm. CUTTING OF THE SPECIAL 40th ANNIVERSARY CAKE & TOASTS
With a special toast to the founder members who are able to attend.

FROM 5.30pm
You are welcome to stay and socialise into the evening. The bar will be open and the music continues. Dancing on the patio for those who want.

Charity Dinner Dance – Friday 5th July, 7pm-12am at Bearsted Golf Club

Supported by the Club, each Chairman has the opportunity to nominate their chosen charity and to organise an event for members and their friends and family to attend. This year, Sheila and I have chosen MNDA. You may know that this is a terrible disease that afflicted Sheila's late Mum, so it is a cause close to our hearts.

As the second part of the Club's 40th Anniversary Celebration we have organised a Dinner Dance with a disco by Noss Ryan. Coincidetally, it is also the 40th Anniversary of MNDA. We believe that it would be great to create an opportunity for us to get together, have a lovely 3-course meal, and dance in a lovely venue...all in aid of a good cause.

  • Start time is 7.00pm for 7.30pm and the bar closes at midnight.
  • Delicious 3-course dinner - choice of 3 for each course, plus vegetarian option
  • Dress code is smart casual.
  • There are tables of 8,10 and 12
  • Ticket Price £35 each

You are welcome to come with a partner, friends or family or on your own (non-members are welcome too). If you have a preference on who you would like to sit with, we should be able to accommodate this. We are hoping to attract up to 100 guests.

Please click here for the menu choices available, including vegetarian, that need to be selected in advance. Also please state any special dietary requirements, these too can be catered for.

You may leave your car overnight at the golf club in the lower car park, in case you wish to take a taxi home. Otherwise, top car park is fine.

We are receiving help from the Management Committee to obtain raffle or auction prize donations (eg vouchers from local businesses, bottles of wine, etc..), if any member can donate, that too would be appreciated. Please contact Sheila if you can help with prizes and and to purchase tickets.
