On a warm September evening the club hosted its first Poker Tournament. The event was keenly contested by 23 members, ranging from novices thro’ to seasoned Vegas pro’s. The ladies ‘glammed-up’ as if Monte Carlo was calling, and all looked marvellous; the host wore a DJ, hoping to get a call for the vacant James Bond role; the rest of the gents…well they came to play poker.

Bearing in mind the multitude of positive comments, a great night was had by all - possibly aided by use of the bar, allowing members to discuss how things went right / wrong and the intervention of Lady Luck on their fortunes. Based on the bin bags full of cans and bottles the club should see a positive uplift in revenue which is good for all members.

Champion of Champions was Rik Clarke who won both of his table games…luckily hitting a winning hand on the River in the final hand of the evening. Seven hours later, Rik was on court playing a Box match…and winning. 

Prizes of Prosecco, wine and poker cards were keenly competed for - congratulations to the winners who are name checked for posterity’s sake: Rik Clarke, Ian Langridge, Sachin Nischal, Manu Duggal, Cathy Hoskins, David Baker, Mario Aristides.
