Saturday turned out to be 'a bit of a scorcher', but it didn't deter any of the 15 players in this years Basey-Fisher Cup. Traditionally this is a mixed american style tournament with a final to decide the winners - the highest scoring man pairs with the second highest scoring lady and the second highest scoring man pairs with the highest scoring lady.
This year the final saw finalists Anne Jarrett and Anton Stryzhenko take on Sandra O'Neill and Tom Jarrett in a close match eventually won by Anne and Anton 4-1. Congratulations to Anne and Anton.
With Court 5 re-surfacing having only taken place on Thursday, this meant that the entry was limited to 15 players and so they each had one of the five rounds to take some shade and half way through everyone enjoyed some iced drinks provided by the organisers.
There was also a competition run on our singles grass court for participants to try and hit a target at the opposite end ( to encourage length on shots). Six balls each - only one person hit the target! Well done to Sandra O'Neill who won a bottle of wine for her achievement.
The Basey-Fisher Cup has historically seen the tea include strawberries and cream/ice cream, so it was fitting that a couple of members brought strawberries for this year's post match tea for members to enjoy.
A big THANK YOU to everyone who played and to Dawn for organising this fun event.
