American Tournament 9 August 2025

Saturday saw the sun come out to greet the American Tournament players.

17 players participated in 5 rounds of tennis. The usual 8 games format with all games counting and then mixing partners for each round. The eventual Men's winner was Geoff Robson and the Ladies winner was Sonia Miller - both winning a bottle of wine.

Tea ensued and the raffle was won by Craig Middleton. 

BTC Club Championships 10 August 2025 

After rain forced a postponement of the Club Chamionships the week before, glorious sunshine and a mild breeze welcomed this years contenders for the Club silverware.

The format was a tie break, first to ten points with sudden death at 9-9. A one rally and one serve (each) warm up before each match meant the pace of the afternoon ran well.

After the initial rounds, Mark Risley, Anton Stryzhenko and Craig Middleton played off for first to third places. Anton came out in first place, winning two close matches.   

In the Ladies competition the format was a round robin. Last years winner, Diana Gilder once again came out on top with wins against the other four competitors.

The doubles knock out partnerships were then drawn out of a hat. The Men's final was between Anton/Sviat Stryzhenko against Colin Stocker/Thomas Jarrett. This match ebbed and flowed with Colin and Thomas leading 9-7 before Anton and Sviat recovered and eventually won 10-9.

The Ladies final was won by Anne Jarrett/Fiona Underwood who played Diana Gilder/June Penn. A close match with Anne/Fiona winning 10-9

The raffle was won by Victoria - a bottle of gin 

Congratulations to all the winners and a big thank you to those who took part. To conclude the event, tea was served and Dawn was presented with a lovely bouquet by Diana Gilder to thank her for her hard work in organising the event and making it so enjoyable.
