Congratulations to Bob and James Sterling, winners of the first Net Generation Doubles Tournament at Bourton Tennis Club.
"We had good weather for the event, not too hot, and an excellent turnout," reports Club Chair Mark Smith.
"There was a strong field of entrants for the tournament and we saw some scintillating tennis. Dragos and Darius Goga were runners-up. Jacky Harding and Ary Denjoy came third, and Gwyneth Simmons and Anton Denjoy came fourth. Congratulations to all of them, and well played and thank you to all who took part. Thank you as well to everyone who came along to watch and support the players.
After the presentation of the winners' trophy, there was a special ceremony to thank our three current trustees, Alan Outhwaite, Anne Fagg, and Dennis Fisher, who are stepping down, for their years of dedicated service to the club. Their successors will be Dena Brumpton, Tim Hull, and Debbie Jagla, to whom we are very grateful for assuming this role.
This was followed by the draw for the raffle, which has raised more than £750 for our new floodlighting fund. Those prize winners who were unable to attend the draw will be notified of their prizes shortly. Huge thanks to Jacky Harding for her brilliant organisation of the raffle, and thank you as well to all who purchased tickets.
All in all, it was a very enjoyable event, and it was particularly good to see the tennis skills demonstrated by the younger participants."
