Hurrah! The new LED floodlights are now installed and ready for use. The team from Highlights completed the work on Tuesday 7 October - in just one day, with minimum disruption to play.

The new lights were specially made to fit the existing posts and will be a great asset to the club in terms of efficiency and energy costs and usage compared with the old lamps which were very expensive to run and replace. 

"After [the lights were in place], they waited until it was dark  and then spent about an hour doing tests to measure the amount of illumination at various points in the principal playing area and total playing area of each court," reports Chair Mark Smith who went along to watch.

"The measurements they took will be fed into a computer and the results analysed to ensure that the amount of illumination is as specified in the quote. They also measured the amount of light spillage affecting the houses adjacent to the courts (there was very little). The fence around the courts has been made good (they had to open up a section to allow access for the cherry picker) and the courts have been swept and tidied up. It looks as if we can get back to playing tennis!"
