Come and play at Broughton Tennis Club

Nestled behind the Primary School in the Scottish Borders village of Broughton, we are open to everyone who lives in the district,  from Tweedsmuir,  Drumelzier,  Stobo,  Skirling as well as the Biggar area.

We are a small, family club with two floodlit, all-weather courts. Membership fees are kept at a low level to maintain a healthy balance of community and family engagement as well as developing and encouraging junior involvement. The tennis club shares a clubhouse with the bowling club, who meet regularly on the adjacent bowling green. Please be considerate to the houses in the approaching lane and park at the front of the school.

The club runs a series of coaching sessions throughout the season for all ages and abilities.

If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to get in touch via the Contacts page.

We look forward to welcoming you at Broughton Tennis Club!

Children and Junior play

The club is keen to see children who are registered members of the club using the courts. Junior membership has a nominal cost and can be completed on the Membership page of this site. However, in line with LTA guidance, we recommend that they be accompanied by an adult whenever possible. If unaccompanied, they must use Court 1 if it’s available.

As with adults, children and juniors should secure padlocks and scramble the number on leaving the courts. Parents of Junior members will be made aware of the padlock code and any updates to it for them to pass on to their child as they deem appropriate. This is unfortunately necessary as damage by casual visitors has happened in the recent past.

Other club members have the right to request unaccompanied juniors to leave the courts if there are thought to be risks to their safety and welfare, or damage to the courts. Parents are responsible for their children’s behaviour on court, so please remind them to treat the courts with respect and to lock up when they leave.

All that said, we very much hope they enjoy the use of the courts!
