Club History

In the late 1950s, a group of tennis enthusiasts, in the villages of Limekilns and Charlestown had the idea to build a local tennis facility. The site selected was on the spare tract of land, on the west side of Limekilns Park, which was formerly used as the Primary School Vegetable Garden.

Agreement, for this project, was reached, with the Elgin Estate and Fife Council. After much work and fundraising, the courts and clubhouse were constructed and available for play, in April 1962.  On Sunday 4th August 1962 the courts were officially opened by Harry Matheson & Joyce Barclay, Lady Bruce and the club committee.

The original courts were grit on tarmac and this was renewed around 1985 and further replaced with all-weather artificial grass, in 1999. This surface continues to be played on up to the present day.

The club continues to be an important local ameniy for the village of Limekilns and the surrounding area.
