Ellen is a Senior Lecturer in Performance Sport at Cardiff Metropolitan University and the academic lead for all tennis performance modules included across the School of Sport and Health Sciences. ​Ellen is also the Programme Director for the BSc (Hons) Sport, Physical Education and Health degree.

Ellen has an extensive background in tennis having represented Wales and South Wales at junior, senior and veteran level. As an experienced tennis coach she has a proven track record of managing a highly successful tennis academy and developing junior players to international standard. Before moving into her academic role she was a full-time tennis coach for 12 years and specialised in working with elite junior performance players.​

She has held numerous county and national captaincy positions and continues to work closely with the national governing body to develop the tennis landscape in Wales. Ellen has a MSc in Sport Coaching and Pedagogy and is a Lawn Tennis Association coach education tutor and accredited+ coach.
