Hyman and Kennedy face top British Doubles pair at BUCS Doubles Championships

This weekend saw our top two men competing in the BUCS Doubles Championships at The Shrewsbury Club in Shropshire.

Alex Hyman and Evan Kennedy went into the tournament with a very high success rate on the doubles court and so they were looking to continue that form against the best British university doubles pairs.

Alex and Evan started their campaign off with a comfortable 6-1 6-3 win against the University of Manchester. They faced few challenges in this match as they played to the best of their ability and felt sharp on the court.

The following round told a very similar story as the Cardiff Met men took another victory. This time they faced the University of Worcester and won the match with the same score line.

The third round was against Stirling’s number one pair and top seeds. Stirling are currently the best team in the BUCS Super League. This meant our boys were facing the top doubles pair in UK University competition! Despite this, Met were able to put up a great fight, losing 6-2 7-6. The second set was as close as you can get, as the tie break finished 7-5 in favour of Stirling.

It was a very successful weekend for the team and we are very proud of the boys for their efforts!
