The Story

The Mini Courts Story...

Old Practice Wall

A practice wall had been built at the side of the clubhouse in 1991, but fifteen years later the wall and surrounding area was well past it's best and the committee at the time decided to regenerate the area.

Old Wall

The committee decided that rather than just replacing the existing wall they would look to see what could be done to help encourage the many new juniors attracted to the club possibly by the "Andy Murray" effect.

A scheme was devised to combine a new practice wall with two new mini-tennis courts. These would be the first of their kind in the east of Scotland.

The committee began the task of fund raising to pay for this development and were very grateful to all those who contruibuted.

The new courts would be ideal for under 8s being less than half the length of an ordinary court and around two-thirds of the width and would have removable posts to allow use of the practice wall.

Completed Courts

The work was completed in the summer of 2010. This work was possible due to the generous support of:

Pentlands Neighbourhood Partnership

The Robertson Trust

Tennis Scotland

as well as a number of club members whose names can be seen on a plaque in the clubhouse.

 Opening The Courts

The club was delighted to be able to get Judy Murray to open the new mini-courts on 21st August 2010.
