Singles League
The singles league has run annually since 2012 and is open to men as well as ladies who are happy to play singles tennis against men. Good juniors who have the maturity and temperament to play against adults are also welcome to join and a number do so. The singles league has always been very popular. During 2023 over 460 singles league matches were played.
The season lasts from the end of March to the end of November each year. Five rounds each of six weeks and with a week between rounds are played.
Players are placed into divisions with players of a similar standard. Normally there are between six and eight players in a division. Each player plays, as far as possible, the others in their division once in each round. At the end of each round the top two players in each division are promoted and the bottom two relegated.
Many players take part in each of the five rounds held each year, though it is possible to join or leave during the year. Full player contact details and rules are provided at the start of each year. Emails are issued to members inviting them to take part in the singles league.
If you would like to know more about the singles league you should contact the club president, Gordon Shirreff.
