Team League

New pilot event running from mid Jun through to Aug 2022.

7th Aug 2022 - Finals

Congratulations to the Wombles of Wimbledon winning 6 2 in the final against Goran's Graf-ters. So completes a very successful and enjoyable pilot team league.

25th Jul 2022 - End of Group Stages

The Pilot team doubles league group stages finished yesterday. For the last 6 weeks, 8 teams have battled it out by playing 3 matches each. The winners of the 2 groups are Goran's Graf-ters (captained by Joe D) and The Wombles of Wimbledon (captained by Michael R). Both teams will now play in a play-off final, scheduled for 7th Aug.

Runners-up in the groups were The Borg Identity (Joe Mc) and Murray's Young Guns (Paul N).

3rd in each group were Bjorn Again A team (Shakil A) and McEnroe Flyers (Darren G).

4th in the groups were Lord of the Strings (Alan G) and Roddick's Rascals (Larry C).

It has been a good and enjoyable 6 weeks and hopefully the play-off match(es) will be the same.

Matches

Match Format

Each match is played over 2 courts and should take no longer than 2 hours. There are two rounds, each with 2 rubbers, for each match i.e. 4 rubbers per match.

1st Round
1st court - Team 1 pair 1 vs Team 2 pair 1
2nd court - Team 1 pair 2 vs Team 2 pair 2

2nd Round
1st court - Team 1 pair 1 vs Team 2 pair 2
2nd court - Team 1 pair 2 vs Team 2 pair 1

Each rubber plays 2 sets, first to win 5 games (no tie break), all sudden death deuce. e.g. 5-2 1-5
One point awarded for each set won, in total 8 points (ie 4 rubbers x 2 sets each).

Winning team (ie most sets) wins the match.
If 4 sets all, there will be a championship tie break shootout (first to 10 points, 2 clear) to decide the match winner (captain picks 1 player from each pair to play the shootout).
