Club Tournaments

Throughout the year we run several intra club tournaments for our members.  These are fun, social occasions with the added incentive of a trophy for the winners.  Our Club Tournaments are:

The Championships (April - September) - Ladies, Mens & Mixed (Devizes Tennis Club)

The major tournament of the year is our Club Championship that runs over the course of the Summer months and culminates with our Finals Day in September.  There are three categories, with a small entry fee for each.  A Plate competition also runs alongside the main draw for those exiting at the first round stage.

Niblett Cup (January) - Mixed Handicap (Delta Tennis Centre, Swindon)

This is our annual Winter Tournament where we travel to the indoor courts of The Delta Centre to kick off the year with a fun format tournament.  Each entrant brings a plate of nibbles to share over the course of the evening, which is crowned by the presentation of the Mens and Ladies winning trophies.

Jane Fisher Salver (Spring) - Mixed (Devizes Tennis Club)

The club lost Jane unexpectedly in 2018.  She was an active and well liked member of the club, playing and captaining in the ladies squad as well as supporting the clubs socials and tournaments.  This new tournament, launched in 2019, is held in her honour and is a great way to remember her by.

Collins Cup (May) - Mixed Handicap (Devizes Tennis Club)

This is an early season, fun tournament for all abilities.  You enter as a single and are paired in a way that ensures a fair competition for all.  The format changes each year based on entrants and is a good social evening, hopefully aided by some good weather.

Michael Oliver Cup (June) - Mixed Handicap (Devizes Tennis Club)

Inaugurated in 2017 in memory of our late, long-serving member Michael Oliver, we remember his great contributions to our club with a friendly mixed tournament, splitting pairs into two groups with the winners facing off to play for a shiny new trophy.

PJ Card Cup (September) - Mixed Handicap (Devizes Tennis Club)

Inspired by our January Delta tournament, the PJ Card Cups were resurrected after a long absence in 2019, giving a welcome addition to the Autumn schedule.  We play under the floodlights and fire up a BBQ to keep everyone warm
