The Devon Ladies Over 75's beat Lancashire 3-1 in the County Cup Final held at the David Lloyd Centre, Frogmore Lane, Southampton on Friday 24th October.  First pair Di West (Exmouth) and Jenny Doig (Barnstaple) had a long and very tight match against Phyllis Bentham and Dorothy Bamber who had recently represented Great Britain in the World Championships.  Di and Jenny won the first set 7-5.  Lancashire then went ahead 5-1 in the second set and Di and Jenny caught up to 5-5 but eventually lost the set 8-6 in the tie break.  The final tie break was again very close with Lancashire winning 10-8.  Co-Captains Anne Tait {Budleigh Salterton) and Linda Knight (Torquay) beat the second couple Gabrielle Bramwell and Chris Baron 6-2, 6-3 and managed to beat the first couple 6-3, 6-4.  Di and Jenny beat Gabrielle and Chris 6-0, 6-4. 

A wonderful result which reflected the hard work the team has put into the matches this year.  In addition to the players our thanks go to Yvonne Cotham (Dartmouth) and Annie Broome(Ashcombe) who have been our nominated reserves this year.
