Walking Tennis

Walking Tennis offers a slower format of the traditional game by introducing simple rules to make it less physically demanding, easier to learn, but just as much fun.

The rules are:

  • Players can’t run or jump

  • Players are allowed to let the ball bounce twice

  • It can be played on a smaller court with modified equipment

Plympton Tennis Club - Plymouth

This group started summer 2022 and have met regularly on Thursday mornings from 10.30am to 11.30am. It is run in conjunction with the Rees Centre, Health and Well-Being Hub in Plympton who advertise it and recommend people to take part.

The Plymouth Lions kindly donated £200 for some racquets for this group.

We have a small but dedicated number of players and have room for more.

Hopefully this may encourage some other clubs to begin similar groups.

Most of the group had never played tennis before but now some are interested in joining the club. It has also benefitted the players socially and physically.
