Clay Courts
The synthetic clay courts we have installed at the club are low maintenance compared to real clay but they do require ALL players to take some care and attention to making sure they are left ready for the next game and ensure longevity of the surface. Please leave the court as you would wish to find it by following these guidelines:
1. As with ALL courts take your rubbish with you when you leave, especially sharp ring-pull caps from freshly opened tennis balls.
2. At the end of each booking use the drag mats provided to sweep the court in a spiral motion working from the off court area inwards. Make sure the bush element of the mat is facing downwards. The idea being that the centre of the court sees most action and our foot movements here (especially sliding on the clay) during the course of the game shift particles from the centre of the court to the edges. The operation of the drag mat is to bring that media back into the centre/evenly distribute it.
Use the drag mat with brush attatchment for this job:
The green mat is for removal of leaves or debris from the court, and does not perform the same function, use it by all means if there is debris but you will still need to sweep the court as well:
Correct Pattern for dragging the court:
3. Use the line brushing wheel if any of the lines are not clear. This task has no bearing on playability or longevity so one for perfectionists and/or that can be left to the incoming players to do to their satisfaction!
