Alfie's Squad - our 2026-27 Charity

We're proud to be supporting our 2026-27 Charity of the Year: Alfie's Squad. Some more details below on what they do and how to support them:

Alfie’s Squad was launched in 2023 to support children, young people, and their families after the loss of a loved one to suicide.

The charity began with Alfie’s own story. In 2017, when Alfie was just 8 years old, he lost his dad to suicide. When the right support didn't exist, Alfie knew something needed to change. He wanted to create a place where children and their families could meet others who truly understood the feelings of guilt and isolation that suicide bereavement can bring.

Today, Alfie’s Squad offers warm face-to-face peer support sessions for children and young people aged 6–17. Through fun and engaging activities, young members have the chance to bring their humour, kindness, talents, and personalities, where they can grow in confidence, build friendships, and realise they are not alone. At the same time, parents and carers have their own peer support group only metres away, helping the whole family feel supported together.

Allison Furlong, CEO of Alfie’s Squad, "We are incredibly grateful to East Wavertree Lawn Tennis Club for choosing Alfie’s Squad as its Charity of the Year. Believing in our work, you're helping us to continue creating positive experiences for children, young people, and families, where they feel understood and connected to one another."

Since becoming a charity, Alfie’s Squad has supported almost 90 children and young people. With Squads in Liverpool and Bolton, as well as an online group supporting families across the country, the hope is to launch more Squads so support can reach even more families navigating their loss to suicide.
