For many reasons this year it was decided to add the possibility of booking courts 1 & 2 at Egerton. Covid-19 happened and this accelerated the reason for doing this as a trial. The courts were extremely busy, queues were forming and there few details on people using them and limited ways to inform people about using the courts.
The council is aware it is only 2 courts and some people will be positive and others will want it to revert back to as it was. It is acknowledged it was put in quickly and as always there could be improvements if it is kept and more courts could be included.
There was quite a lot of work to developing a customer friendly and informative site that would tell you how to do so. This was done with the help of the Lawn Tennis Association using models from elsewhere. However no doubt there could be improvements to help users book courts and find out information on using the courts.
As the summer comes to an end it will soon be time to review what has been put in place. The Parks and Sports development team at the council would welcome thoughts
Additionally the council may in the future wish to reintroduce charges. These were in place a few years ago. Whilst probably not popular this might help with many aspects from coaching to people not turning up and help with funding toward maintenance.
Some people have asked us to look at this alongside the booking system so whilst we would like to hear more about the booking system it would be helpful to gauge comments.
We would be grateful if people could let us know their views ideally by 30 October 2020 via the Town Hall or by email to GettingRotherActive@rother.gov.uk. These will got to the parks team. Please put “Comments booking system Egerton ”in title.
If you have other comments on the park please send separately Thank you.
