Junior Club Doubles Championship

On Saturday 13th July we held our Junior Club Doubles Championship.

Lots of fantastic tennis was played by the juniors and the overall winners were George and Kiertan with Richard and Jo runners up.

Well played everyone and thanks to our coach Josh for organising the day.

Junior Hanbury Ladder 2023/24

Kiertan Dhinsa won the 2023/24 Junior Hanbury Ladder.

Ladder matches are played after the coaching session on Saturdays and Kiertan has showed consistency in his game to win this year. Congratulations.

On Saturday 13th April we held our first guardian/child tournament with the junior members inviting their parents to play. 9 pairs entered and play was competitive but great fun.

The final was held between Grant and Eleanor Mitchell against Dominic and Lucy Mitchell. Grant and Eleanor won after a closely fought match. The match to decide third and fourth place was even closer with Janet and Millie Swift just beating Mark and Joe Parkinson by one point.

We all enjoyed a lovely chilli and jacket potato lunch, followed by lots of lovely cakes.

Thank you to all who took part - a great day.

January 2024

What a fantastic Hanbury junior consolation singles 2023 final we watched on Saturday 20th January, 2024 at Hanbury Tennis Club.

The match was made up of many close games with both players thinking of ways to win each point. Richard served well and made great use of the volley, whilst Lucy perfected the lob on many occasions to win points. The final score of 6-1,6-0 did not reflect the closely fought contest we all watched.

Congratulations to Richard on his win and commiserations to Lucy. Well done to you both 🎾

January 2024

After so many rain delays we finally played the 2023 Junior singles championship final on Saturday 13th January 2024 and what a Junior final it was between George and Kiertan. They have had many matches in the past and they have all been so close. Both are previous winners of this title.

Kiertan began strongest, taking a 2-0 lead in the first set. George fought back to level at 4-4 and then broke Kiertan’s serve to take the set 6-4. The second set was equally close with so many deuce service games, which could have gone either way . Eventually George came through to win that set 6-2,and so take the title for 2023. Congratulations to George , commiserations to Kiertan but a fine match to watch- well done both of you.
