There was no raining on the veteran's parade

A week of rain did little to dampen the spirit of Haverfordwest Tennis Club’s annual veterans tournament.

Celebrating its 10th edition, the week-long competition saw 28 players competing for trophies at the Parade.

Marc Thompson came out on top in a repeat of last year’s men’s singles final against Dave Roch James, while Angela Scourfield produced some high class tennis to beat former champion Julia Brady to the ladies' title.

Dave tasted success in the men’s doubles with Andy Beazley, seeing off the spirited efforts of Richard Davies and John Parker.

Lucy Brooker and Liz Reed combined superbly to edge Angela and Mary Thomas in the ladies' showpiece.

Dave enjoyed further success in the mixed doubles with the mighty Mina Doney, beating the Richard and Julie Phillips partnership.

The awards were presented by club president Brian Hearne during the traditional finals day dinner, with tournament organiser Richard and his team of volunteers thanked for their efforts.
