Junior tennis coached sessions
Term time Junior tennis - please contact the coaches for up to date details and bookings.
We are working with LTA Youth tennis scheme. There are various stages each with their own court size and type of ball. This tailored approach enables players to develop vital skills and techniques at an early age. These stages are used for competition age groups and are a guide only, if a player is developing well on a certain stage and they are not ready to move up then they can stay until there skills are at the appropriate level.
-- Red Stage - 5-8 years. Mini Tennis Red is for players aged 8 and under. It is played on small courts with short rackets and soft balls. It’s just like the real game and gives players opportunities to have long rallies and play different types of shots.
-- Orange Stage 8-9 years. Aimed at players aged 8 and 9 this is a great way for children to continue their progress. It is played with shorter rackets, softer balls and the courts are bigger and wider than for mini-red but still smaller than full-size courts.
-- Green stage - 9-10 years plus. This is played on a full size court and the balls are still a little softer than standard yellow balls.
-- Yellow/ Full Ball stage - 11+. This is played on the full sized court with yellow balls and is the final stage of tennis where the players have moved through the tennis Stages.
The ages/ ball colours are for guidance only and children will be allocated by your coach to the most appropriate session according to their age and ability.
If you are interested in your child taking part please contact Jonathan Lindner our coach directly for details on current sessions at Hingham.
