Wow what a day! We hosted outdoor tennis and indoor Pickleball sessions for beginners and tried a new 'super drills' tennis session for adults followed by free play tennis and pickleball sessions. 45 players attended the various sessions.
The rain looked as if it may scupper the outdoor mini tennis but the families were resiliant- hiding in the limited shelter of the overhang of the tennis hut whislt the rain came down. After the downpour it slowly brightened and coach Sam managed to adapt the session so all the mini and junior players got an extendd taster session on court! The weather held and the sun even came out for the adult super drills sessions. The first time these have been held at Hingham and well received by the players. as Sam had us practising out footwork skills on court. Then a free play tennis session to end the afternoon with some non members mixing in with regualrs.
The Pickleball indoor sessions were not affected by the wet weather although the rain pelting down on the roof actually made it tricky for Jonathan to make himself heard so we were relieved when the rain stopped as well! A family session started the indoor sessions with parents and kids playing alongside one another under Jonathans instruction. Then Jonathan introduced Pickleball to 13 new players over 3 sessions. The new players took up the offer to play on and mix in with the regulars so it was a great session.
The open day was made possibel by a Magic Little grant funded by players of the Postcode Lottery and so we ar every grateful for the which paid for the coaches, sports hall hire and some equipment.
